Your Guide to Summer Festivals by Chicago Neighborhood

Festival season in Chicago is in full swing, and the best of it is still ahead. From late June through Labor Day, the city's streets and parks fill with music, food, and culture nearly every weekend, and the real magic is how each neighborhood puts its own stamp on the season.

We've put together a neighborhood-by-neighborhood guide to what's still to come this summer. Lace up your walking shoes, grab some friends, and start planning your weekends.

A quick note: dates can shift, so it's always worth confirming on the official site before you head out. The Choose Chicago festival guide and the City of Chicago's DCASE event calendar are great places to double-check.

Logan Square

Kick off the next stretch of summer with the Logan Square Arts Festival (June 26 to 28), which takes over the heart of this funky, creative neighborhood with local artists, neighborhood restaurants, craft beer and cocktails, and a diverse lineup of performances. For more arts browsing, the Renegade Craft Fair (July 18 to 19) brings makers and designers to the neighborhood later in the month.

Lincoln Park

Lincoln Park has flavor on the calendar. The Chicago Taco & Tequila Fest (June 26 to 27) lands at Wrightwood Park with tacos from a dozen-plus restaurants, tequila tastings, and live music. Then the long-running Taste of Lincoln Avenue (July 24 to 26) delivers multiple stages of music, beloved food favorites, a kids' carnival, and even a dog parade.

Lakeview & Northalsted

The summer's biggest celebration is just around the corner: the Chicago Pride Parade (June 28) marches through historic Northalsted and draws over a million spectators. Later in the season, foodies should circle Lakeview Taco Fest (August 21 to 23) along the Southport Corridor for tacos, margaritas, and lucha libre.

Lincoln Square

Lincoln Square keeps things relaxed and family-friendly with its free Summer Concert Series, running on select evenings through mid-August near Lincoln and Western. It's a low-key, residential corner of the city's festival map and a great easy evening out.

Pilsen

Pilsen, a hub of Hispanic culture and cuisine, serves up some of the most flavorful weekends of the summer. Tacos y Tamales (July 17 to 19) celebrates the neighborhood's Latin roots with authentic food, street cantinas, live music, and dance along Blue Island Avenue. The following weekend, Fiesta del Sol (July 23 to 26) returns as one of the largest celebrations of Mexican culture in the Midwest.

Roscoe Village

A neighborhood favorite, Roscoe Village Burger Fest (July 17 to 19) brings together top local eateries competing to serve up the juiciest burgers, along with live music and cold drinks on West Belmont. Cast your vote for the best burger and enjoy the laid-back, community feel.

Ravenswood

Ravenswood pours it on with two standout events. Ravenswood on Tap (July 18 to 19) gathers craft brewers, food, and music in this charming corner, and the Thirsty Ears Music Festival (August 22 to 23) closes out the summer as one of the city's few classical-music street fests.

Wicker Park, Bucktown & West Town

The heart of Chicago's indie and arts-driven festival scene saves a big one for late July. Wicker Park Fest (July 24 to 26) takes over Milwaukee Avenue with an eclectic lineup of local and national acts, more than 200 small businesses, and plenty of food. The Time Out Chicago festival roundup is a handy resource for this year's lineups.

Chinatown

The Chinatown Summer Fair (July 25 to 26) celebrates its 46th year with a vibrant showcase of Chinese culture, kicking off with a lion dance and featuring kung fu demonstrations, samples from the neighborhood's best restaurants, and more. It's a free, family-friendly afternoon well worth the trip.

Downtown: Grant Park & Millennium Park

The city's marquee festivals anchor the lakefront all summer long. The free Grant Park Music Festival runs through August 15 with world-class outdoor classical concerts. Taste of Chicago (July 8 to 12) serves up the city's iconic food-festival tradition in Grant Park, and Lollapalooza (July 30 to August 2) brings one of the biggest music lineups in the country to town. The season caps off with the Chicago Jazz Festival over Labor Day weekend (September 3 to 6). For the full downtown slate, the Block Club Chicago summer guide and WTTW's festival guide are excellent.

Make the Most of Your Chicago Summer

Whatever your taste, whether it's art fairs, food fests, cultural celebrations, or massive music weekends, there's a Chicago neighborhood throwing a party for it in the weeks ahead. The beauty of festival season is that it invites you to explore corners of the city you might not visit otherwise, and to fall a little more in love with the place you call home.
